The mission of the Foundation is to promote education in the regions and to support the students of the Cégep de la Gaspésie et des Îles in their learning process, to accompany them towards their academic success and their greatest aspirations, by providing additional resources otherwise inaccessible.
The Foundation backs and supports educational and extracurricular projects and awards grants of all kinds.
The Foundation transforms the generosity of its partners and donors into support for the college community.

Historical
Mr. Cornélius Brotherton was a key figure in post-secondary education in Gaspésie.
Prefect of studies at the Séminaire de Gaspé in the early 1960s, he then served at the Cégep as assistant to the DSP from 1968 to 1971 and as DSP (Director of Educational Services) from 1971 to December 1982.
His journey was unfortunately interrupted by multiple sclerosis.
Died suddenly in October 1994, he asked the board of directors of the Cégep, in the expression of his last wishes, to create a foundation dedicated to promoting the education of young people in the territory.
Having received its Letters Patent in December 1996, the Cornélius-Brotherton Foundation became, in April 2002, the official foundation of the Cégep de la Gaspésie et des Îles, while retaining its name.
In 2023, it will bear the usual name of Fondation du Cégep de la Gaspésie et des Îles.
